Central Connecticut State University is a public, coed college in New Britain, Connecticut, United States. In the Connecticut State University system, it is one of four universities. There are schools for business, technology, arts and sciences, education and professional studies, and more at the university. Most fields of study have master's degree programs at the graduate school. There are about 11,800 students in all.
In 1849, the school was called the New Britain Normal School. In 1933, it changed its name to Teachers College of Connecticut and went from being a two-year school to a four-year college. In 1959, it changed its name to Central Connecticut State College. In 1983, it became a university. The Capital Region Center for Economic Education and the Copernican Planetarium and Observatory are both on the campus. |
